Welcome to Windsor

Well-planned family-friendly suburb with a stunning, lush downtown area and many beautiful
parks

Windsor is an award-winning community designed to be suburban, community-oriented, and very family-friendly. Nestled in the gorgeous Russian River Valley, Windsor is renowned for its pastoral beauty, great shops, and walkable downtown area. Settled in 1855, the town is also one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the state.

Stretching across 7.3 square miles, Windsor comprises five community parks, including Windsor Town Green, a skate park, 14 neighborhood parks, three large regional parks, and a regional soccer park. Foothill Regional Park encompasses 211 acres of scenic wilderness featuring thick oaks and woodlands where visitors can go biking, hiking, or horseback riding.

The great thing about moving to Windsor is the diversity in housing options. Windsor, CA's real estate provides quality housing that ranges from affordable to high-end neighborhoods and from condominiums and apartments to single-family homes.

At the heart of Windsor is the Old Downtown Windsor area, which includes the Town Green, a walkable stretch of verdant greenery that extends 4.5 acres. The downtown district anchors the town and is a community gathering space used year-round. The Town Green is a nice area to relax and soak up the sun, and dogs are also welcome!

Not only is it surrounded by incredible restaurants and bars, but the pedestrian-friendly Town Green features farmers markets, Fourth of July parties, holiday celebrations, and more than 30 free annual events. During the summer, Town Green hosts a free concert series and kid-friendly movie nights.

Come winter, Town Green also hosts the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Grove, a dazzling display of winter delights that includes horse-drawn carriages, lamp lights, and hundreds of decorated trees lining the walkways. Windsor also hosts one of Sonoma’s most popular annual events, the Wings Over Wine Country Air Show.

The local restaurant scene is fantastic. Among the local favorites are Sweet T’s southern restaurant and bar, lively Mexican outpost El Gallo Negro, and the relaxed sushi restaurant Umé Japanese Bistro. Considering its location in wine country, it’s no surprise that Windsor is home to many excellent wineries and a robust up-and-coming brewery scene which includes the new brewpub Russian River Brewery. Each brewery and taproom in the town is unique, touting its own personal style and flair.

Windsor is home to several excellent schools, including Windsor Middle, which received the California Distinguished School award. Students also have access to great nearby colleges and universities, such as Sonoma State University and Empire College.
